HIS WORK, NOT YOURS

HIS WORK, NOT YOURS

EXCERPT FROM "HE LOVES ME!" BY WAYNE JACOBSEN

Don't assume that this life is lived out of you intellect or your emotions.  While both are important parts of your journey, the life I'm talking about begins in a personal revelation of the Father's love for you and the work His Son accomplished on the cross.

Living in His affection requires a deeper revelation than that, where the eyes of your heart are opened to see into His reality.

I can't make this happen for you, so I won't even try.

You can't make it happen for you either, so please don't waste time trying.

What you can do is simply ask Him to show you the depth of His love for you and a revelation of what the cross of Jesus accomplished.  He seems to love doing this more than anything else He does, and He's been doing it with people through the whole course of history.

If you came into a room where a two-year-old was playing and wanted to have a relationship with that child, who would have to make that happen?  Would it be the child? Of course not!  To forge a relationship with that toddler, you would be the one to do it.  He'll have to respond, of course, but you would take the initiative. You would find a way to meet him at his level and you would engage him in the things that interest him as you draw him into relationship.

The same is true with God.  He is further above you than you are above a two-year-old.  He will take the initiative at your invitation.  Simply ask Him to begin to reveal to you how much He loves you, and he will take it from there.  Don't just ask Him once and wait for the sky to fall or your heart to explode.  Keep focusing on Him each and every day, regularly looking to Him and for ways He'll make Himself known to you.
